Well the parts I used for this little mod
| Part | ||
| Serial Cable | ||
| Bell Wire | ||
| Male Molex conector | ||
| 1 x 2.1 mm DC Power Socket | ||
| 1 x 2.1 mm DC Power Plug | ||
| 1 x 2.5 mm DC Power Socket | ||
| 1 x 2.5 mm DC Power Plug | ||
| 1 x spare PCI blanking plate | ||
| Heat shrink insulation | ||
| Healthy NK204-V | ||
| Dead NK204-V |
Well I followed Macroman' tutorial for
external power
but used a 2.5 mm socket for 12V supply and a 2.1 mm socket for 5V supply. This
ensures that you cannot connect 12V to an item that only wants 5V
I then soldered both ends of my Serial cable so that pin 2 connected to pin 2,3 to 3, and 5 to 5. I had 4 remaining wires to use to supply the power.

I soldered 2 to the groud wire and 2 to the 12V supply wire of the power plug and at the other end to the modded floppy cable.

I drilled a hole in the serial plg housing to allow the power to come out of either end.
Now onto theDEAD LCD! (I fried this one with some eggs, bacon and a hash brown or two)
I have housed my LCD in a large box bought from Mappers, with the LCD fixed to the lid.

I placed the male pawer connecter and the serial socket from my dead LCD in the back of the box to allow the power and serial cablet to be connected. On the inside, I have another power cable soldered to the power pins and another 9 way male serial cable connected to the otherside of the serial socket.
These can then be easily pluged onto my LCD.

Any questions email me.
